WHAT IS DETOX? WHAT IS DETOXIFICATION?
Detoxification – the medical treatment of an alcoholic or drug addict involving abstention from drinking or drugs until the bloodstream is free of toxins.
Benefits of Detoxification
At the Drug Detox Center, medically supervised detoxification is available to all patients (teens and adults) who need it. The detoxification process will be completed in the safest and most comfortable clinics available. The Drug Detox Center will do everything possible to help ease your discomfort during this first critical step towards recovery. Detoxification will be difficult for most people; there will be withdrawal symptoms depending on how much alcohol or drugs the patient consumed prior to detox. However, the detox center will be able to provide non-addicting medication to help the patient with the symptoms of withdrawal. Also, the detox process is not very long – it’s usually less than 7 days. Here are a few health benefits of detox:
- Your body will not be chemically dependent on the drug or alcohol
- You will feel healthier
- Your heart, lungs, and kidneys will recover
- You will be ready to start the treatment part of recovery
Benefits of Inpatient Detox
It’s important to remember that detox is NOT rehab. It is merely the first step in treatment. We believe inpatient therapy is the best for any drug or alcohol addict because the patient will be secluded from every day life and will use each day to focus on getting better. We also will be able to provide the patient with prescribed, non-addicting drugs to help ease withdrawal symptoms. When going through detox, it is important for the patient to be monitored by a doctor. Certain drugs require detoxification before treatment.
These drugs include:
- Opiates (including Heroin, Methadone, OxyContin)
- Prescription drugs
- Alcohol
Although you may want to detox at home, we do not recommend it because you could go into shock by outright quitting the drug or alcohol. We believe the process of detoxification should only be completed while under medical supervision.
Life after Detoxification
After detoxification, our patients receive individualized treatment for drug and/or alcohol addiction. We also offer dual diagnosis treatments for those suffering from addiction and a mental disorder. We offer a teen only rehab program which includes both short and long term residential treatments, based on the teenager’s needs. We have schooling available on site for our teens, so they will be able to keep up with their peers in education. For our adults only program, we offer comprehensive 30 to 90-day addiction treatment programs that provide education, multi levels of care, and medical assessments. We treat ALL substance abuse with intense therapy and we encourage our patients to leave their everyday lifestyle by immersing themselves in a new and different environment during the addiction treatment process.
We’re unique because we base our treatment on each person’s individualized problems. We will help the patient to successfully complete both the detoxification process and the addiction treatment program. We will teach clients to recognize the origin of the problem that resulted in the need to self-medicate with drugs or alcohol. The client will learn new, healthy ways to deal with problems. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, don’t hesitate to call us.
