Cocaine Addiction Signs and Symptoms

Cocaine is a highly addictive stimulant. Most people become addicted to cocaine because it makes them feel talkative, energetic, and happy. However, the long term effects of cocaine abuse include:

  • Intense paranoia
  • Sinus problems
  • Frequent nose bleeds
  • Depression

Cocaine is expensive, so addicts may steal money or sell valuables to pay for the drug. Addicts may choose to only hang out with friends who also use cocaine. They might lie about their drug use or try to hide it. Most addicts are obsessed with cocaine and will do anything to obtain and use the drug.

Symptoms of Cocaine Use

  • Dilated pupils
  • Insomnia
  • Loss of appetite
  • Very energetic & talkative
  • Nose bleeds
  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings

Also watch for tiny, empty bags which may have a white residue on the inside.

Cocaine Detox and Treatment

Cocaine is different from other drugs because it passes through the body very quickly. Therefore, addicts do not need detox medication. However, cocaine addicts will still need to complete the cocaine detox process before being admitted to the rehab center. The cocaine detox process will help the addict through the psychological withdrawal symptoms.

Our cocaine detox program incorporates many different therapies including music therapy, art therapy, psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, and group therapy. Clients at the Drug Detox Center will participate in educational activities, listen to motivational speakers, and attend one-on-one meetings with an addiction counselor. Our clients in the cocaine detox program will also enjoy what we like to call sober fun. This important aspect of our program teaches the clients how to have fun without using drugs or alcohol. During their stay, clients will learn how to deal with problems in a healthy way. Drug addiction wreaks havoc and chaos in a family, which is why it’s important for the client and his or her family to participate in family therapy. We offer family therapy as part of our cocaine detox program to teach the family ways to be supportive of the client.
