PRESCRIPTION DRUG DETOX
The most commonly abused prescription drugs are Opioids, Depressants, and Stimulants
The Drug Detox Center offers prescription drug detox treatment for all adult and teen addicts. The detox process may last up to two weeks depending on how frequently the drug was used. Our doctors will be able to prescribe non habit-forming medications to help with withdrawal symptoms during the prescription drug detox process. After the process is complete, our clients will begin treatment in our rehab facility.
Opioid Abuse
Opioids are drugs derived from the opium poppy plant. They are used to relieve chronic and/or severe pain. Common opioids include:
- Morphine (heroin is the illegal derivative)
- Vicodin
- Hydrocodone
- OxyContin
- Oxycodone
- Fentanyl
Painkillers are readily abused because they are very easy to find. In the USA, 2500 teenagers abuse a prescription pain reliever EVERY DAY. If you or someone you love is addicted to opioids, please call us right away. This type of prescription drug detox should ONLY be completed under medical supervision. The prescription drug detox program at our center will help you cleanse your body of these drugs safely. Our doctors will be able to prescribe you medications to ease withdrawal and to stabilize your system during your prescription drug detox treatment program. After the cleansing process is complete, you will continue with your treatment at our rehab center.
Depressant Abuse
Depressants are drugs which relax the central nervous system. These drugs are used to treat anxiety and promote relaxation. Common depressants include:
- Marijuana
- Xanax
- Valium
- Zyprexa
- Klonopin
These drugs are very serious because they can lead to death if they are abused or taken with alcohol. In 2005, nearly two million Americans used tranquilizers not prescribed to them. If you or someone you care about is abusing these types of prescription drugs, call us at the Drug Detox Center. We offer many different programs for prescription drug detox, including programs for those addicted to depressants. Our doctors will prescribe medications to ease withdrawal and stabilize your system during the detox process. Tapering off or quitting these drugs outright is NOT advised because the withdrawal can be life-threatening. After you complete your prescription drug detox, you will be admitted to our rehab facility for further treatment.
Stimulants
Stimulants, commonly called uppers, are drugs which stimulate the body. They are used to enhance alertness and concentration. They also provide energy. Common stimulants, both prescribed and recreational, include:
- Amphetamines
- Methamphetamines
- Caffeine
- MDMA (Ecstasy)
- Cocaine
- Crack
- Adderall
- Ritalin
It’s easy to see how people could become addicted to the energetic feelings they get when they take stimulants. One study found college students abuse Adderall twice as much as students of the same age who are not in college. Stimulant detox is covered under our prescription drug detox program. People addicted to stimulants will need to complete this program before beginning treatment at the rehab facility. The Drug Treatment Center will help the detoxification process go as smoothly as possible. Although withdrawal symptoms can be difficult, the doctors at the Drug Treatment Center can prescribe non-addictive medications to help with detox. After you complete the prescription drug detox process you will be admitted to our drug treatment center.
